Jose Miguel Tellez

Dancer

Born in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), at the age of 10 he received training in Flamenco Dance and Classical Spanish from maestro Fernando Belmonte. He debuted at 11 years old with the Albarizuela Ballet; he undertakes tours of stages in Spain, Europe and Asia; and performs for the Kings of Spain and the United Kingdom. In 1995, he joined the Ballet Antología de Madrid, under the direction of Alberto Lorca, Mario la Vega and María del Sol. In 1998 he made his debut with the company of Eduardo Serrano 'El Güito' at the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez. He continues in Spain and internationally performing in theaters and festivals as a soloist and component of various companies with great flamenco artists: Manolete, La Tati, Carmen Cortés, Gerardo Núñez, Moraíto Chico, Eva Yerbabuena and Sara Baras. In 2009, he began conducting and premiered his first show: Dalarte Flamenco, which combines the most traditional of flamenco with the most current style. Since 2010 he has created choreographies for companies in Canada and the United States and participates in international festivals such as the Vancouver Flamenco Festival. In 2012 he received the National Dance Award 'Perla de Cádiz'. And in 2013 the Flamenco Jondo Cultural Association of Madrid recognized his work in Flamenco and his mastery by awarding him the 'Ángel La Calle' Flamenco Distinction. He currently combines his artistic commitments with teaching Flamenco Dance at the Amor de Dios Flamenco Art Center in Spain and gives master classes in France, Japan, Canada and the USA.
